SHIRLEY – The body of a missing man from Blanchard has been found.
According to Maine Game Wardens, 66-year-old Clayton Burton went fishing last Thursday along the East Branch of the Piscataquis River.
Wardens said his wife, who was away when he left, said she could tell he had not been home for days.
She notified wardens and provided details about where her husband liked to fish.
Maine Game Wardens said they located Burton’s ATV near a bog off the old railroad bed between Blanchard and Shirley Monday night.
Tuesday morning, game wardens returned with canoes and an aircraft and searched the area again.
Wardens said Burton’s kayak and fishing gear were found in two different areas along the south shore of the river in Shirley.
Authorities said Burton was located not far from his gear.
The state medical examiner’s office has been notified.
