BANGOR- The man whose body was recovered Monday morning has been identified as John Nadeau, 41, of Bangor, according to a Maine Warden Service spokesman.
Wardens said that John Nadeau and Summer Nadeau, also of Bangor, went down to the Kenduskeag Stream to take a photo. While standing on a platform overlooking the stream, John Nadeau stepped over the protective railing and shortly after, lost his balance and fell into the stream.
First responders began searching the Kenduskeag Stream around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, when they received multiple calls reporting that a man had fallen into the water near Bruce Road and Valley Avenue.
Emergency responders from Bangor, the Maine Warden Service and the Down East Emergency Medicine Institute responded and helped with search efforts.
Divers and drones were used in the search effort. Authorities said the conditions of the river made the search difficult.
Wardens said Nadeau’s body was found around 8:45 a.m. Monday on the bottom of the stream close to where he fell in by a warden service diver.
The state medical examiner’s office was contacted and Nadeau’s body was taken to a Bangor funeral home. The warden service is investigating the cause of the incident.
