Maine Coast Hospital offering Tuesday vaccine class, shots

Written by

ELLSWORTH - Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital is hosting a Tuesday night information session on vaccines, and is offering the shots as well.

The monthly educational class begins with a free dinner at 5:30 p.m., but folks are asked to register ahead of time.

“We wanted to talk about not only the vaccines that are usual and expected and recommended for children, but we also wanted to talk about some of the diseases that can be prevented with vaccines,” said Dr. Sheena Whitaker, a pediatrician at the hospital. “We also will be offering vaccines. Vaccines are actually free through the state of Maine.”

The class should help people understand Maine vaccine requirements and will touch on a bill going through the legislature that would eliminate religious and philosophical exemptions.

Folks who want to register for the free class are asked to call 664-7745.
