BANGOR – Budget season is underway in many Maine municipalities, including Bangor.
City councilors held a budget workshop Wednesday night and on the agenda were a few non-departmental items, including the Fourth of July 4 parade and the Bangor Public Library.
In the proposed budget, the library would be receiving an increase of more than $60,000.
“Most of the things we’ve seen increases on are in regard to labor and cost-of-living increases … and health insurance. A lot of the increases you see are attributed to that,” Council Chairwoman Sarah Nichols said.
One new item listed in the proposed budget is a homeless coordinator, however, Nichols said the city is seeking a grant to help with that.
