Fire damages Belfast potato factory building

BELFAST - Multiple crews were called to battle a fire at a potato factory building in Belfast Thursday evening.

According to Waldo County Dispatch, firefighters were called to the Penobscot McCrum factory for a reported structure fire around 6:00 p.m.

Dispatchers say the fire started in an office building at the factory.

Firefighters from Belfast, Morrill and Searsport responded to the scene.

According to Penobscot McCrum's website, the company is one of North America's largest suppliers of potato specialty products.
