STATEWIDE – During the past two days, more than three dozen federal and state agents arrested 22 people across Downeast Maine on numerous drug trafficking and possession charges.
According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney for the district of Maine, 12 of the people were Washington County residents, three people lived in Hancock county, and 7 people were from New York.
Fifteen of those arrested face federal charges, while the other seven were arrested on state drug charges.
The statement said the charges are the result of an investigation into the purchase of cocaine, crack, heroin, and fentanyl in New York and selling the products in Washington and Hancock counties.
According to the statement, federal and state law agents executed seven search warrants Thursday throughout Washington county during which several firearms and large quantities of crack and fentanyl were seized.
