MILLINOCKET – The two women reported missing Monday from Millinocket have been spotted by plane near the Caucomgomoc Lake region, officials from the Maine Warden Service said Tuesday morning.
Ground crews reportedly were on their way to rescue the women, who appear to be healthy.
According to Millinocket Police Chief Craig Worster, Aprylle Tapley-Pepper, 41, and Tammy Michaud, 44, left Highlands Tavern in Millinocket Sunday afternoon.
The two told friends they were going on a “rip ride,” which means they were headed north out of Millinocket on the Golden Road.
Worster said the two stopped at a store in Millinocket and purchased two 18-packs of beer, food and gassed up the gray KIA Sportage they were driving in.
Millinocket Police and the Maine Game Wardens led the search.
