Throughout the day, the children of state lawmakers and employees were able to take a day off from school and go see how their parents work to run the state government.
They even got an extra treat as Gov. Janet Mills made an appearance to talk to the kids.
"It's not too far a distance to travel and it's not too far a step to take to be able to welcome kids and people of all ages to this, the people's house. To make sure they feel welcome here, which they should, and to make sure that their voices are heard here, at every level," Mills said.
The event occurs every year across the country.
