BANGOR – A former state legislator from Frankfort will spend the next 10 years in the Maine State Prison after being found guilty last year of stealing nearly $3 million from a Belfast widow’s estate.
A Penobscot County judge sentenced Robert Lindell Tuesday afternoon.
The sentence was announced Wednesday by the Maine Office of Securities.
Office of Securities Administrator Judith Shaw called the sentence evidence that Maine’s judicial system won’t tolerate elderly exploitation.
Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey said Lindell’s conviction was an example of swift and effective prosecution of anyone who victimizes Maine’s elderly.
