Early morning fire destroys Bangor home Featured

BANGOR - A mobile home was severely damaged by an early morning fire Thursday morning.

According to Assistant Chief Chandler Corriveau of the Bangor fire department, the call came in just before 3 a.m. Thursday for a fire at 11 Airedale Place.

He said multiple crews from Bangor responded. According to officials, the fire was completely put out shortly after their arrival.

There was one person inside the home but she was not hurt.

"The biggest take-home message from this is that the sole occupant was alerted by working smoke detectors. If she did not have working smoke detectors this would have been a totally different outcome," Corriveau said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but Corriveau said the fire department will be working in conjunction with the state fire marshal's office to determine how it started.
