Theater offers camp for kids during vacation week

Written by

ELLSWORTH - Some local kids are spending April vacation week on stage at The Grand's theater camp.

The Ellsworth theater and cinema is putting on a camp all week, with a different theme and instructor each day.

Wednesday, kids took a dance class taught by a local dance student.

Organizers say while it's fun for the kids, theater camp also teaches them problem solving skills.

"It's fostering empathy with each other, learning empathy, and also learning to be an ensemble," said Georgia Zildjian, The Grand's education director. "Today our youngest was five and our oldest was thirteen, and they found a way to work together and to help each other."

Drop-ins and same day registration are available for the theater camp for the remainder of the week.

More information about the camp and other events can be found on their website.
