They gathered at Whiting Park because the Patriot's Day holiday on Monday meant Maine's deadline to file taxes is Wednesday.
Those protesting said it seems while taxes get higher, taxpayers aren't getting the benefits from what they're putting into the system.
"Our roads are getting worse, our schools are underfunded," said Forrest Dale, chairman of the Washington County Libertarian Party of Maine. "There's just so many things that we think we can try and do to try to bridge these gaps between the people and the politicians."
The libertarians there said they were recently un-enrolled as an official state party.
Now that they're trying to get the party back together, they're asking past members to re-register.
