BAR HARBOR - It's National Autism Awareness Month and more than 100 people took to the streets of Bar Harbor Tuesday to support the cause.

Downeast Horizons held its 11th Annual Autism Awareness Walk-A-Thon Tuesday morning.

Tony Zambrano, executive director at Downeast Horizons, said the event isn't so much about the money, but increasing awareness to help families be able to diagnose the condition more quickly.

The event also helps support the organization's autism resource library and fund social groups and activities for the children.

Downeast Horizons is a local non-profit that helps children and adults with developmental disabilities.
