Written by

BANGOR - Religious congregations joined forces Sunday for Sweets & Savories from our Traditions.

Congregation Beth El, Congregation Beth Israel, and the Islamic Center of Maine held the bake sale to raise money to buy toiletry kits that will be given to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter and the Shaw House.

"We really want to put a good amount of toiletry kits together and address the needs of those in the community," said Asiya Sbayi of the Islamic Center.

Admission for the event was $5 per person or $15 per family. Organizers also raffled off cheesecakes.

If you would like to donate, you can contact any of the organizations that hosted Sunday's event.
