HOLDEN – In the wake of the death earlier this week of Maine State Police Detective Benjamin Campbell, a local business is giving back to law enforcement.
G & M Family Market and Amato’s, located inside the market, are giving away a free small sandwich, drink, and bag of chips for first responders from any law enforcement agencies.
This comes after Detective Campbell was killed Wednesday on I-95 when he stopped to help a motorist.
When G & M’s owner heard the news, it didn’t take long for an idea to give back to come to mind.
Workers said they’ve seen quite a few officers come through, and they’re happy to help.
“When I heard the story it was a very touching story,” said Anthony Lazzara, an assistant manager, “and you know to be able to do something to help when so many people are going through a tough time, it’s just important to be part of the community in that way.”
G & M Family Market also delivered lunch to a couple area departments on Thursday.
The free meal offer runs through the end of Sunday (4/7).
