Bangor van arson, double murder trial begins next week

Written by

BANGOR - The double murder trial against a Bangor transient begins next week.

John De St. Croix is accused of setting fire to a box truck parked underneath the Penobscot Bridge with two people inside. The fire resulted in the deaths of Michael Bridges and his girlfriend Desiree York.

Bridges' brother, Mark, said he's ready for the trial to begin.

“I think he should get 50 years, times two,” Mark Bridges said. “One for her and one for him.”

Jury selection begins Monday and the trial is tentatively scheduled to begin Tuesday.

It's been almost exactly one year since the couple died on March 28, 2018.
