MDOT funds Lincoln area projects

Written by

LINCOLN - The Maine Department of Transportation has announced its work plan for the next three years and it includes some improvements to the Lincoln area.

More than $4 million has been directed to improve Lincoln Regional Airport.

Other DOT funding will go toward paving part of Interstate 95 in Howland and for paving portions of Routes 155 and 188 in Enfield.

A state representative from Lincoln said he is glad to see the money being used locally.

"This is definitely needed because you know it's definitely pothole season out there," said Rep. Sheldon Hanington, R-Lincoln. "They have a lot of maintenance they have to do and I think this is beneficial for the area."

Hanington said the town has to match 5 percent of the cost.

Construction at the airport is expected to start this year.

Plans for other parts of the state can be found at the MDOT's website.
