Farmers get early monetary boost at CSA Fair

BANGOR - Live music, samples of local produce and a chance to meet local farmers were some of the highlights of Bangor's annual CSA Fair.

CSA stands for community supported agriculture.

People who attended were able to buy a share of a farmer's harvest before the season.

According to Greg Edwards, chairman of Bangor Greendrinks, the system allows farmers to get capital they need at the beginning of the season.

"CSA Fair is something special we do to really highlight community and local agriculture and highlight sustainability in a way that most people don't really think about," he said.

Edwards said all of the farmers offer different options and price ranges. Twelve farms participated in the fair.
