Coast Guard ice cutter plies Penobscot

Written by

BREWER - The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Thunder Bay has been on the Penobscot River this week helping to move winter along.

Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hepp said the 140-foot vessel arrived in the Bangor area late Tuesday, worked the ebb tide on Wednesday and was expected to continue down the river on Thursday.

When the Thunder Bay is on the job, it attracts plenty of attention on both sides of the Penobscot.
