PALMYRA - Two people were arrested Friday after Somerset County Sheriff's Deputies executed a search warrant on a vehicle in Palmyra.

The incident happened Friday morning around 11:30 a.m. in a Burger King parking lot.

Inside the vehicle were 37-year-old Steven Dumont of Newport and 36-year-old Cheyann MacMullen of Stetson.

According to police, officers also found a small amount of heroin, controlled pills, hypodermic needles, digital scales, illicit drug packaging items and other drug-related paraphernalia inside the car.

Authorities said Dumont was arrested on outstanding warrants from Maine and Pennsylvania, where police say he was a fugitive from justice.

He is being held without bail and remains in custody awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.

MacMullen is facing two drug possession charges and is free on bail. She is due in court on May 18.

Authorities said additional charges could be brought against MacMullen and Dumont, as well as another man from Newport who was in the vehicle at the time.
