Webb said 2 percent of Bangor's students drop out and members of the school community are doing everything they can to make number shrink.
The school department's Dropout Prevention Committee consists of teachers, parents, social workers and school committee members.
"How we look at it is even if it's one student dropping out, it's too many," Webb said. "What this committee does is review the data. They make recommendations about efforts that can be done in order to try to reach out to students and support them."
Webb also said school officials do what they can to help students who have already dropped out get back on track.
