Risteen Bahr, president of the society's board of directors said Michael Melochick will lead the society as it expands its offerings.
"In the last four years, we've really done a good job building membership and getting our programming going and all of those things. And we really need to get to that next level where we have more in-depth programs. One of the things Michael will bring to us is an engagement with the younger population," Bahr said.
Bahr said that Melochick, who is a Bangor resident, will take the reins of the historical society next week.
