AUGUSTA – Members of the Professional Firefighters of Maine held their annual fire service day at the State House on Thursday.
Firefighter organizations from around the state gathered in the Hall of Flags to let legislators know what they could do to help them.
Revenue sharing, funding for equipment and salaries were among the issues that firefighters raised.
“We don’t always agree on things but I think what it does allow is for a discussion to go on. To have the back and forth that’s sometimes needed and I think that if we present the facts well and are respectful, we can always find middle ground,” said Professional Firefighters of Maine President John Martell.
Martell also said that the event gives firefighter organizations a chance to meet with each other.
