Representatives from different businesses and groups dealing with education and the workforce participated. The goal for those in attendance was to assess the available resources and combine their interests in a way that best helps the region.
"I think that's the real value of what's happening here. Everybody from the ground up is getting together, doing stuff, and we're bringing in resources and telling them what we'd like to do, and finding out how they can help us, so we're driving the train ourselves," said Lee Umphrey, president of Eastern Maine Development Corp.
Umphrey said they'll be hiring an economic development specialist to represent the region.
