Gov. Mills creates Office of Innovation and the Future

AUGUSTA - During her inaugural address, Governor Janet Mills announced she would create an Office of Innovation and the Future to tackle major policy challenges.

On Thursday, she made good on that promise.

The governor appointed former House Speaker Hannah Pingree to lead the Office of Policy Management and create a framework for the new Office of Innovation and the Future.

"I so look forward to working with Hannah Pingree to accomplish this goal and to putting Maine back on track to more strategically and comprehensively think about its future, our future for the sake of our children, our grandchildren and future families of Maine," said Gov. Mills.

Health care, workforce development and climate change will be some of the top priorities for the new office.

Pingree previously served as the House Majority Leader, chair of the Committee on Health and Human Services and was a member of the Appropriations Committee.
