Children's Caucus recommends investing in early learning

Written by

AUGUSTA - Lawmakers of the Maine Children's Caucus got an earful Tuesday from business, military and law enforcement leaders on the importance of high-quality early learning.

According to a Northeastern University study, the majority of people in prisons are high school dropouts.

Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce and other panelists all agree that high-quality early learning can reduce crime, make the nation more secure and improve the future workforce.

They recommend using federal, state and private funds to invest and expand early education in Maine.
