BANGOR – It’s been a stressful couple of weeks for federal employees affected by the partial government shutdown.
The people at the Bangor Region YMCA want to help relieve that stress by offering free memberships to government employees and their families.
“We are a community of support and love here at the Y,” said CEO Diane Dickerson. “We know that when people go through tough times, we gather around. We support them. We love them. We encourage them. And, I do think it’s a perfect place for people to get that community spirit.”
The offer will last as long as the shutdown is in effect, and can be used by federal employees with or without a current membership.
In order to sign up, simply bring your federal ID and proof you’ve been furloughed to the Bangor Region YMCA.
