CLIFTON - State police are investigating the discovery of a dead woman at a Clifton residence early Monday morning.

Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said the body was found by residents of a home on Airline Road when they woke up.

The spokesman said the woman's name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

McCausland said the woman's body was transported to the state medical examiner's office in Augusta, where an autopsy was expected to be conducted on Tuesday. He said state police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
