HAMPDEN – Police are warning people in the Bangor area to be on the lookout for people stealing from mailboxes.
On Friday morning, Hampden police received a report of business checks being stolen from the mailboxes of local businesses by someone driving a black SUV.
Police say it is possible that the car had Georgia license plates.
Bangor police alerted police departments about a similar situation that happened in 2017, when checks were stolen and the thieves recruited homeless people to cash the checks.
As of late Friday afternoon, no arrests had been made and the case remained under investigation.
