Red Cross offering free smoke alarms

Written by

BANGOR - There have been a number of fatal fires this winter and the American Red Cross of Northern and Eastern Maine wants to remind the public about their smoke alarm installation program.

The Red Cross will send volunteers to homes to check existing alarms and help create escape plans for free.

According to the  Red Cross, people over the age of 65 are three times more likely to die in a residential fire than people younger than 65.

To make an appointment, call 874-1192 or visit soundthealarm.org/maine.
