AUGUSTA – Maine lawmakers conducted their first meeting of the Children’s Caucus on Wednesday.
The meeting touched upon topics that impact students up to the age of 8. Legislators agreed upon issues they would like to support as a caucus.
Sen. Rebecca Millet, a Democrat from South Portland commented on the future of the caucus.
“This year I anticipate there’s going to be quite a bit of conversation, especially given Governor Mills making that part of her platform when she was running for the office of governor, and I know there’s wide support for it within our chambers as well,” she said.
Millet went on to say they will likely expand public pre-kindergarten and support early childcare providers.
