INDIAN ISLAND - Maine drug enforcement agents broke up their first meth lab of 2019 on Sunday morning.

Penobscot Nation police officers alerted Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials to a potential meth lab operation after they responded to a report of an unattended death on the island.

According to a statement from the Maine Department of Public Safety, there was no indication that foul play was involved in the death of the 38-year-old resident.

While no charges have been filed in connection with the seizure of meth manufacturing ingredients, a spokesman said the investigation remained open and active.
