STATEWIDE- Governor Mills is hoping to set the tone for her administration with a day of service.
On Saturday, volunteer activities were held across the state.
We stopped by one at the Families First Community Center in Ellsworth.
The group at that location was renovating an old farmhouse into apartments for six homeless families with children.
“Maine’s citizen service day was a great opportunity for us to get going with our volunteering again” Terri Oullette, the president of the Families First Community Center board told us. “We’ve had some great volunteers in the past year. This was a good initiative to get the ball rolling in the new year.”
If you want to get involved with Families First Community Center, they have ongoing volunteer opportunities.
