Amended regulations now make bump stocks illegal

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Under federal law, bump stocks will now be considered machine guns, which are illegal.

The announcement came from Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, who stated the Justice Department has prosecuted more gun criminals underneath President Trump.

He went on to say, "We are faithfully following President Trump's leadership by making clear that bump stocks, which turn semi-automatics into machine guns, are illegal, and we will continue to take illegal guns off of our streets."

Senator Susan Collins also weighed in on the ruling, saying in a tweet she is happy that Justice Department has announced the ban and said, "There is no justification for bump stocks that transform semi-automatic weapons into machine guns."
