Early winter proving good for seasonal sports Featured

BANGOR- If you think it's too early to start your snowmobile, you could be wrong.

With the freezing temperatures, winter sports enthusiasts are wasting no time.

"People are super excited about winter, we got an early start in November with it being cold" the Vice President of Bangor Motor Sports told us "Those who are outdoor enthusiasts are super pumped about having a white Christmas"

Mccannell is excited for the season but wants to remind everyone to be safe and make sure they're getting their snowmobile serviced at least once a year.

He also said to make sure you check ice and snow depths before venturing out.

It's not just snowmobile riders enjoying the early winter.

Local businesses that specialize in outdoor gear are already seeing their sales increase.

"As retailers, we're always hoping for an early winter" the owner of Epic Sports, Brad Ryder, said "November was a great way to start off the winter, then today, just before Christmas. It's perfect."

When it comes to winter sports, Ryder says there's something for everyone, whether it's snowshoeing...

"Year after year snowshoeing continues to be a great activity. It's something that's really easy to learn. You can do it in your backyard or most anywhere."

Or cross country skiing...

"Have some fun. It's a great activity. It's a really aerobic workout, if you're looking for a workout, or just great exercise"
