Orrington officials rethinking public safety building plans

ORRINGTON - Town leaders are deciding what's next for a proposed public safety building.

A proposal for a new $3.5 million facility for the town's police and fire departments was narrowly shot down by voters last week.

Tuesday night, town officials confirmed  they are now looking to explore less expensive options.

A special committee for a new public safety building is going to be formed at a special board of selectmen's meeting next Monday.

Officials said they have been looking to build a new facility because the current police and fire buildings have multiple code violations.
