Priest of murdered Hampden woman takes leave of absence Featured

HAMPDEN - The priest who has been at the center of a Bangor court proceeding over a Hampden murder is taking a leave of absence from his duties.

Currently, the Rev. Anthony Cipolle is a priest at Bangor's St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

According to a statement released by the Catholic Diocese of Portland, Cipolle will be on leave indefinitely, effective immediately.

Just last week, a judge ordered the priest to turn over a murder victim's journal to the court. The priest claimed the journal was protected by religious privilege. The journal was kept by Renee Henneberry Clark, who was shot to death in July.

Her brother-in-law has been charged with her murder. It's unclear why or how the priest came into possession of the journal. The judge said he planned to review the journal to determine whether it was relevant to the prosecution's case.
