Man arrested after fleeing police, crashing car

STANDISH (WGME) - A Gorham man will face several charges -- including operating under the influence and operating with a revoked license -- after driving erratically and eluding an officer early Saturday morning in Standish.

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies spotted 26-year-old Joseph Turner driving in the wrong travel lane on Chadbourne Road in Standish. After attempting to stop Turner, police said that he sped up to elude the officer but only made it less than a half mile before going off the roadway and striking a utility pole and then rolling multiple times.

Police said that Turner was ejected from the car and pinned beneath it. He was taken to Maine Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
