Misty Romero, 41, was charged with eluding an officer and operating under the influence. The Cumberland County dispatch center received a call about an erratic vehicle driving on Route 35 in Standish shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday. When the officer went to talk with the driver, she reportedly sped away in her truck, almost hitting him and then damaging a number of other vehicles, including two Standish fire vehicles.
Police said the driver left the scene at a high rate of speed despite losing the driver's side wheel. After driving at a high rate of speed, Romero's car became disabled on its own on Route 25, police said. Romero's bail was set at $1,500 cash.
One other person was taken into custody and a passenger was released without charges.
