The Republican senator from Maine spoke to our news team at an event in Ellsworth on Sunday.
Sen. Collins said the important thing is that Mueller be allowed to finish the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
This comes after recent court filings that found the president's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen and President Trump's former campaign chair Paul Manafort committed criminal acts.
Sen. Collins said she believes Mueller will continue to be fair and thorough.
"From what I've seen, I am convinced that the Russians tried to sow the seeds of dissension in our country and turn us against one another," said Sen. Collins, "and exploit the polarization and divisiveness that is too common in our country."
Court filings from Friday claim Manafort lied to prosecutors about his Russian contacts.
