BANGOR – A holiday tradition in Bangor warmed the hearts of local residents Saturday.
The 26th annual tree lighting and Festival of Lights Parade flooded the streets of downtown Bangor with bright colors and holiday cheer.
Even though it was a little on the chilly side, it didn’t stop people across the area from coming out to watch and participate.
This year’s theme was “Be the Inspiration” and featured lots of floats, musical acts and more.
“I just liked being out here, supporting the VFW,” said Sgt. McBride, a parade participant. “Just getting the military name out there.”
“We’re all about service above self. It’s about giving back, giving to the community,” said Cynthia Bergin, a member of the Bangor Rotary Club. “It’s fun, gets them out here to enjoy anything and everything about the spirit of the holidays. It’s fabulous.”
The Rotary Club of Bangor hosts the parade each year.
Even Santa himself joined in on the fun, officially ushering in the holiday season.
The tree in West Market Square will remain lit throughout next several weeks.
