HOULTON – Two men from northern Maine are facing animal cruelty charges after an incident on Monday.
Houlton police officers responded to a residence at 52 School Street in Houlton for a disturbance call.
According to Houlton’s police chief, responding officers determined a dog, specifically a husky, had been abused and killed.
After conducting several interviews and gathering evidence, police charged 27-year-old Kevin Cummings of Houlton with aggravated cruelty to animals.
27-year-old Brian Vrieze of Hodgdon is also facing an animal cruelty charge.
The incident is still under investigation.
Houlton’s police chief says the department has “zero tolerance for this type of crime in the community.”
