Walking for warmth Featured

BANGOR - Some Husson college students walking in the cold Sunday to help families in need stay warm this winter.

Student government put on the second annual walk for warmth 5-k.

The walk around college circle raises money for United Way of Eastern Maine helping them help local families pay for heat.

Money was raised through registration costs and raffles at the event.

Husson University student government Cameron Clark said, "It's definitely cold outside so we can all feel for what it might be like if we needed heating oil assistance or didn't have heat so it's a great cause."

Their goal was $1,500. A rep from United Way at Sunday's event said they fund homeless shelters in addition to helping people pay their heating bills.
