Police and fire department host turkey drive

Written by

OLD TOWN - The Old Town Police and Fire Departments were collecting donations on Saturday to make sure everyone has a good Thanksgiving.

They hosted a turkey drive in the Old Town Hannaford's parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, filling up the police cruiser with donated food.

The woman whose idea it was said all the food donations are going to the Old Town Elementary School food cupboard.

"There's a lot of less fortunate people in this community and we just want to help them out," said Johannah Sirois, an administrative assistant with the Old Town Police and Fire Departments. "It's the season of giving."

This was the first time the departments put on a turkey drive.

They said after a couple hours first responders had already gotten about one hundred turkey donations. And they plan to do it again next year.
