OLD TOWN – Multiple fire crews responded to a fire that tore through the roof of a building in Old Town.
A fire broke out on Stillwater Avenue after 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
According to Old Town Fire Captain Matt Redding, there were no reported injuries and no one was home at the time.
Capt. Redding said the fire was called in by neighbors. There was heavy fire on the first floor that spread to the second floor and attached garage. Flames could be seen tearing through the roof.
Crews were able to knock down that fire.
The frigid weather made battling the fire harder for firefighters.
“We didn’t expect to deal with these cold temperatures this early in the year,” said Capt. Redding. “We’re getting some microphone issues, with our radios are getting stuck frozen open.”
Part of Stillwater Ave was blocked off for the night while crews responded.
Fire officials don’t know what caused the fire. They said the Fire Marshall’s Office will be notified.
