BANGOR - Maine's new veterans' license plates were unveiled at a veterans day event in Bangor.

Secretary of state Matt Dunlap showing off the new design, and giving out the first one hundred plates to veterans at the event.

This was at the Bangor band's veterans day concert where the secretary of state served as their emcee.

He said the new plates have been in the works for years and it was a couple veterans' who led the re-design.

Secretary of state and Bangor band announcer Matt Dunlap said, "They wanted something a little bit flashier that could still accommodate the commemoration decals and have the service medallions, as well as the special awards for recognition of valor under combat."

The new plates will be available on Tuesday.

The Bangor band will have their next concert in December for their annual Christmas show.
