ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Farmers Market is celebrating 40 years of business.
And now — by popular demand — there is an indoor winter farmers market, which will be held through the end of December.
The owners of Happy Town Farm, who normally sell their goods at the Unitarian Church in Ellsworth, were looking for a new location and thanks to the Heart of Ellsworth and the Frenchman’s Bay Conservancy, they found an indoor market right in downtown Ellsworth.
The first winter farmers market was held last Saturday and had lots of new customers as well as farmers wanting to participate.
“Before, we’ve been outside and it was rainy and cold and, you know, there were a lot more people here inside,” said Paul Volckhausen of Happy Town Farm.
The indoor farmers market can accommodate about a dozen vendors.
The next market day is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 42 Main St.
