Police urge pedestrians to use caution after dark

CARIBOU - Police in northern Maine are urging pedestrians to use caution when it gets dark after a man was killed while attempting to cross the street.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday near Big Cheese Pizza on south Main Street.

 

Authorities said that a man was crossing the four-lane street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north.

 

The victim was then thrown from that vehicle and struck again by a car driving in the opposite direction.

 

Police say the man was already dead when they arrived on scene.

 

Authorities are still investigating the incidentbut want to remind pedestrians to wear light-colored clothing and use caution when it gets dark.
