Shawn Moody concedes race Featured

GORHAM - It was a tight race between Democrat Janet Mills and Republican Shawn Moody but in the end, Mills took it home and is now Maine's newest governor.

Early Tuesday morning Moody hit the polls greeting voters and was still campaigning on Monday in Bangor and Lewiston.

Moody made a speech to family, friends, and supporters after he called Mills and congratulated her.

"We have a great team we have great supporters and you know we worked hard I don't think we left anything in the tank. So I guess to answer your question I would say we gave it everything we had and we came up short," he said.

When asked if he would like to stay in government he says he is open minded.
