FAIRFIELD - A home in Fairfield went up in flames late Friday night.

Officials said the call came in just before 1 AM.

They said the family and animals made it out safely with no injuries, but the home is a total loss.

The red cross was notified and is helping out the family.

Officials said it took hours to knock down and put out the fire, crediting mutual aid from several area fire departments.

The fire marshal's office was on scene early Saturday to help determine a cause, but the fire is not considered suspicious.

Crews cleared the scene after 8 AM Saturday.
